Abstract

625,717. Resilient mountings for seats. MONROE AUTO EQUIPMENT CO. May 28, 1947, No. 14218. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1944. [Class 52 (i)] A vehicle seat is supported from the vehicle frame by spring means, is guided for vertical movement by parallel arms, is provided with torsion bars connecting the parallel arms tending to keep the seat from lateral tilting due to road shocks at one or other side of the vehicle and with a fluid shock absorber for damping the suspension spring means. The seat 10 is provided with seat and back frames 16, 17, a pair of conical coil springs 11 supporting the seat frame 16 at the rear, a pair of torsion rods 35, 36 mounted rotatably on the seat and back in parallel relation, each torsion bar having a,pair of arms 28 or 29 the outer ends of which are turned inwardly and pivoted in rubber &c. bushed brackets 30 or 33 carried by the vehicle frame 12. A fluid shock absorber 13 is mounted by means of studs 23 and resilient washers 25 to brackets on the seat back and vehicle frame respectively. The shockabsorber 13 is similar to that described in Specification 625,716. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 627,452.
