Abstract

629,418. Resilient mountings and adjustments of seats. MONROE AUTO EQUIPMENT CO. May 28, 1947, No. 14219. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1945. [Classes 52 (i) and 52 (ii)] A tractor seat 11 is mounted on a beam 12 pivoted at one end to brackets 15 carried by the vehicle frame 10, the seat being provided with a resilient mounting comprising a coil spring which may be conical and of variable rate, and may be constructed so that in compression its coils rest within one another to give maximum clearance to the seat, the spring 21 being damped by a shock absorber 30 connected between the end of the beam 12 and the 'vehicle frame 10. The end of the beam is welded to a transverse tube 13 through which a rod 14 is bolted to brackets 15. The seat 11 is mounted on the tubular beam 12 by means of a plate 16 having flanges 18, 24 to carry a retainer 23 for the upper end of the spring 21 the lower end of which embraces a vertical pin 26 carried by a bracket 25. The seat is adjustably mounted on the plate by means of studs 20 passing through slotted holes 19 in the plate 16. The shock absorber 30 is pivoted at its lower end to arms 32 secured to the bracket 25 and at its other end is pivoted by means of rubber &c. bushes to a bracket 36 carried by the beam 12. The shock absorber is of the fluid type and is similar to that described in Specification 625,716.
