Abstract

625,396. Swath - turners. BAMFORD, C. J., and BAMFORD, H. V. July 29, 1947, No. 20453. [Class 6(iii)] Relates to swath-turners of the type having rotating spiders 14, 15, interconnected by tine-bars 13, and having a stripper board 18 mounted parallel to and adjacent to the tine-bars. According to the invention, the board 18 carries a bar 19 or 21 fixed substantially longitudinally along its underside adjacent to the delivery end of the machine to prevent the crop from being carried up by the tine-bars. The bar 19 or 21 is supported at one end only and extends obliquely downwards. As shown in Fig. 3, a leaf spring 26, carried by the bar, bears against the board to give additional resilience to the bar 21. In a modification, the bar is carried on a bracket which is adjustable along the board, the bar being also vertically-adjustable on the bracket.
