624,940. Change-speed driving mechanism for cycles. SEARLE, R. J. July 15, 1947, No. 18760. [Class 136 (ii)] A chain driving mechanism for cycles and like vehicles comprises a pedal crank shaft A coupled concentrically to a chain wheel C through a free wheel mechanism B and a chain driving the rear wheel via a variable gear of the type in which the chain is moved laterally to engage driven sprockets of various diameters, the sprockets being rigidly attached to the rear wheel.
