Abstract
680,348. Chain gearing. JUY, L. Oct. 19, 1949 [Nov. 5, 1948], No. 26870/49. Class 80 (ii). [Also in Group XXXI] Means for facilitating the dismantling of the rear wheel of a bicycle having a change speed gear comprises a hook f on the chain tensioning lever e which engages a spring a to secure the lever in position while dismantling. Various alternative means of securing the lever are described. A hook c, Fig. 6, running on the spring may engage an eye d on the lever. The hook may be pivoted to the lever and engage the rear fork. Alternatively the hook may be integral with or connected to the chain guide and engage either the rear fork or a member on the spring.
