638,922. Change-speed gear. BROWN TRACTORS, Ltd., D. July 21, 1948, No. 19419/47. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXI] In a motor vehicle (see Group XXXI) a powertake-off shaft b has slidably mounted thereon a pair of integral gear wheels C, C<1>, and is driven by a layshaft a, which is capable of being driven at two different speeds (Specification 558,392 is referred to) and has fixed gear wheels a<2>, a<1>. The gear c<1> is engageable with the gear a<2> or c with a<1> and the shaft b may therefore be driven at two different speeds for each speed of the shaft a.
