Abstract

624,193. Thumb latches. DIBBEN, S. C. April 16, 1947, No. 10117. [Class 44] A latch for a gate &c. comprises a casing 2 and a latch member 1 pivotally mounted therein, having an integral bearing portion 7 adapted to rotate in a blind ended socket 16 formed in the casing. The casing comprises a front plate 11 having walls recessed to receive a back plate 12, the bearing socket being formed wholly or partly in one of the plates. The plates are secured together by screws passing through holes 13 in lugs on the front plate. An actuating handle 9 attached to the upper flange 10 of the I-section middle part of the latch projects through a hole 19. Another hole 19 is formed on the other side of the casing to render the latch reversible. The bearing portions 7 are formed with cups 8 to contain. lubricating grease.
