607,377. Trench shores. REYNOLDS & GRAYER, Ltd., REYNOLDS, B., and GRAYER, R. Feb. 1, 1946, No. 3209. [Class 20(ii)] A trench shore, comprising an internally screwed member 1 having a fixed abutment plate 2, and an externally screwed member 5 connected to an abutment plate 6 by a universal joint 7, 8, is provided with an external sheath 12. mounted on an enlarged part 11 of the member 5, to prevent dirt from getting on the screw and to retain lubricant on the screw. The abutment plates are provided with projections 3. To rotate the member 5, a tommy bar 10 is passed through a hole in the part 11 and corresponding holes in the sheath. The sheath moves up and down with the member 5. An opening, normally closed by a grub screw 13, is provided in the member 1 for lubrication.
