Abstract
620,814. Wrenches. LOGAN, G. T. Jan. 27, 1947, No. 2483. Convention date, Aug. 1. 1946. [Class 61(iii)] A pivoted outer jaw wrench comprises a lever handle 15 terminating in a fixed jaw 16 with a concave face having four nutengaging notches, arranged double hexagon fashion, permitting gripping of a nut in two adjacent positions, and a movable jaw 17 pivoted thereto at 18 and having three similarly spaced notches, a spring 19 normally urging the jaws into gripping position so that they may open slightly on the back stroke and slip over the corners of the nut. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the forward end of the lever handle 27 is pivoted at 35 to the stem 34 of the lower jaw and has projecting ears 29 engaging bifurcations 31 of the other jaw member 32 pivoted at 39 to the stem 34, springs being interposed between the movable parts at 37, 33 to hold the jaws normally in nut-engaging position.
