Abstract

977,856. Wrenches. J. M. MAKOLSKI. Nov. 12, 1962 [June 21, 1962], No. 23926/62. Heading B4W. An adjustable spanner comprises a handle 1 having a fixed jaw 2 shaped for engaging adjacent faces of a hexagon nut or bolt head and a movable jaw part 3 slidable on the handle, and shaped for engaging two adjacent faces opposite those faces engaged by the fixed jaw 2, the jaw part 3 being provided with a series of adjustment positions relative to the handle by co-operation between an abutment 10 rockably mounted on the movable jaw part 3 and a series of notches 11 spaced along the handle 1. The movable jaw part 3 is of U- shape its arms 5, 6 embracing closely the longitudinal edges of the handle part 1. The ends of the arms are located in a sleeve 7 which is open at one side, the sleeve being fixed to the arms by rivets. The rockable abutment 10 is pivoted on a cross pin 9 which is fixed through the sleeve. The abutment 10 has a chamfered inner edge which is held in engagement with a selected notch 11 by a spring 12 and is adapted to be rocked in or out of engagement by finger pressure.
