Abstract

620,051. Float-actuated valves. TILLANEY, L. R. June 3, 1946, No. 16827. [Class 135] In a liquid container, the discharge pipe 2 passes through the wall of the container and has its inlet end situated at the base thereof, the pipe carrying a float 7 which, when the liquid in the container has reached a low level, closes off ports 5 in an inlet fitting 3 to prevent the entry of liquid or air to the discharge pipe, and the fitting 3 is provided with flutings 6 which prevent the float from being held down by suction. The float carries a rubber &c. sealing washer 8. The fitting 3 screws into a cap 4 secured to the bottom of the container.
