Abstract
618,335. Rotary pumps. ARNOTT, F. H. Oct. 18, 1946, No. 31120. [Class 110 (ii)] A pump or compressor of the outwardlysliding vane type has a rotor shaft 5 supported by bearings 10, 11, which are placed inside, and close to, the end closure plates 3. The vanes have shoes 18a which bear continually on the outer race of bearing 11 preferably carried by a boss 8 which is concentric with the casing bore. The vane structure, and means for supporting the vanes, are described in Specifications 618,336 and 618,337. Additional bearings 4 and a shaft seal 6 may be provided. A boss extension 9 is positioned by dowels 9a and is recessed to receive the ball bearing 10 on the shaft 5, the bearing being eccentric to the casing bore. The rotor is built up of two end discs 12, each carrying a part of the shaft 5, and segmental parts 15 which are screwed to the discs 12 and to a central disc 13a, dowels 17 being used. The disc 13a has a hub 13b secured to the discs 12 by screws 14. The parts 12, 13a and 13b may be made in one piece. For long rotors, more than three discs may be used. More than two pairs of vanes may be provided.
