Abstract

A process of producing in situ a fuel for Diesel engines from a stock of impure liquid fuel comprises heating the fuel to a temperature of about 180 DEG F., passing it through a centrifugal separator to remove water and a centrifugal clarifier to remove solids, and thence to a tank for use as required in the diesel fuel injection system. The fuel may pass through a second heater and a filter on its way to the engine. The installation may include a separate supply of ordinary diesel fuel for use as an auxiliary or alternative fuel (see Group XXVII).
