[Class 52(iv)] A seat cushion embodies a sheet-metal base plate 7 with depending flanges 6 at the front and sides of the seat which fit closely over the seat frame the upholstery covering-material 9 being drawn over the said flanges and secured by adhesive or tacking to their inner faces. Preferably the plate is dished to receive the padding 8. A back squab 3 can be similarly fashioned and is secured by engagement of the channelled flanges 12 with the back frame 13 the upholstery material in each case providing a frictional engagement between the cushion and the chair frame.
