Abstract
611,973. Draughting machines. SCHWARZER, E. May 15, 1946, No. 14626. [Class 97 (iii)] The head of a draughting-machine comprises a knob 12, Fig. 3, constrained to rotate with a sleeve 11 screwed on a shaft 4 by a pin 13 but capable of axial movement thereon against a' spring 16. Rigidly secured to the shaft 4 is a base plate 1 hinged to the parallelogram guides 3 and carrying an index 24 co-operating with a scale 23 on the graduated disc 7. Disc 7 is rigidly secured to a rotary plate 6 carrying the rulers 9, 10 and disc 7 and plate 6 can rotate about shaft 4. Disc 7 carries a mounting 17 for a pawl 18 one end of which is engaged by the knob 12 and the other can engage slots 20 in the base plate 1. Depression of the knob 12 releases the pawl 18 from the base plate 1 thus enabling the disc 7 and plate 6 carrying the rulers to be rotated into a new position. For certain predetermined positions (as shown, at 30 degree intervals) the rulers may be locked by releasing the knob so that pawl 18 engages in the corresponding slot ; in intermediary positions the rulers are locked by rotating the knob thus tightening disc 7 and plate 6 into frictional engagement with base plate 1.
