Abstract

610,993. Roofs. GLOVER, C. W. April 18, 1946, No. 12013. [Class 20(iv)] A roof construction comprises preformed reinforced concrete ribs of angle form hinged in pairs to form arches which are connected by side purlins supported at each end by the ribs and connected by clamping means to the pivot by which the ribs are hinged together. In the form shown, the ridge purlins 10 are supported by a pair of ribs 1, the ends of which have recesses 3 which engage a steel hinge pin 4 having co-axial threaded holes 8 in each end. A keeper bar 7 cast into each rib encircles the pin 4, thus preventing the joint from opening accidentally. The ends 9 of the purlins 10 are shaped to lie on the apex of the ribs 1, with a portion 11 extending downwards against their sides. Holes 13 are provided to receive angled steel rods 19 which engage holes 8 at one end, and a fish plate 14, which connects the purlins to be clamped to the ribs. The purpurlins to be clamped to the ribs. The purlins are reinforced, as by bars 17, 18, the bars 18 may be bent to encircle the holes 13.
