606,172. Window frames. JOHNSON, A., GARDNER, W. E., SENIOR, J. H., and RUSTPROOF METAL WINDOW CO., Ltd. Feb. 5, 1947, No. 8097/46. [Class 20(iii)] A combined metal sub - frame and window or like frame of box form in cross-section and open around its outer edge is made of two identical halves, each with an inwardly extending flange on its inner edge, joined together only at these flanges. As shown, each half frame has a web portion 10, an outwardly extending flange 11, a raised channel portion 12, to form the fixed window frame as in Specification 589,651, and an outwardly extending flange 13, and may be inwardly nicked as at 11a, and provided with fittings such as hinges &c. for the window. The flanges 13 of two halves are joined together, e.g. by welding, and a double window may be hung by fitting a distance piece therebetween. The flanges 11 serve to set the frame in the brickwork &c. The lower horizontal portion of the frame may be foreshortened as at 30, and a metal sill 31 and window board 32 secured thereto. The frame may be applied to sliding windows, when the box sections house the balance weights, and removable strips form the runway, and removable plates allow access. to the weights.
