Abstract
604,448. Centrifugal fans. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. May 25, 1945, No. 13122. Convention date, June 9, 1944. [Class 110 (i)] A centrifugal pump for liquid waste has the impeller 19 bladed for mixed flow and the axis of impeller shaft 11 has a substantial vertical component. The suction inlet 8 of the casing is directed upwardly and is arranged entirely above the impeller 19 and extends over at least the greater part of the impeller in such a manner that gases or vapours that separate off in the impeller can escape upwards through the suction inlet 8 of the casing. The shaft 11 may be enclosed in a protective pipe 10 having a water seal 22 at its lower end and nozzles 26 may be provided to direct a stream of pure water for cleaning the impeller blades. Outlet openings for the gases that separate off may be provided in the impeller hub. To facilitate dismantling the opening 5a is made large enough to allow the impeller 19 and the casing 20 to be withdrawn upwards. Specification 461,227 is referred to.
