Abstract
585,505. Fuel pumps. PULSOMETER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and GIBBS, B. H. Oct. 26, 1943, No. 20842/45. Divided out of 574,140. [Class 110 (i)] In a centrifugal pump of the type having a baffle adjacent to the eye of the pump, the impeller comprises vanes which impel the liquid first axially and then radially. The baffle F is of annular form and separates the main stream of liquid flowing to the eye from a surrounding portion of the liquid, in order to facilitate the release of bubbles of air and gas. The latter escape into a space A<3> above the baffle, and are discharged through a passage H leading back to the fuel tank. A wall E<2> adjacent to the impeller separates the inlet passage A<2> from the discharge passage E<1>. The pump is attached to the edge of a hole in the fuel tank by a flange A<1>. Alternative arrangements of the pump and modified forms of impeller are described. Specification 574,140 is referred to.
