603,615. Hair-curling appliances. SORENSEN, V., and NORWOOD, E. S. Oct. 29, 1945, No: 28581. [Class 131] A hair clamp comprises a trough-like metal shield divided along the centre of the base into two separable halves, the sides of the trough being connected to each other at one end by a strip of resilient metal which permits separation of the two halves, and a catch mechanism for holding the other ends of the trough together when desired. As shown a strip of metal is bent to provide jaws A, A<1> with horizontal portions A3 enclosed in moulded rubber strips B and normally maintained open by an integral resilient connecting part A<2> which is slotted at E to receive one end of a curler rod. Inturned flanges A4, AS receive the other end of the curler rod, the cam C<1> of a two link catch mechanism C, C<2>, pivoted on the lug A<6> projecting from one portion A<3>, engaging a recess in the lug A' on the other portion A<3>. According to the Provisional Specification, the jaws may be made of plastic material.
