Abstract
599,563. Tumbler switches. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., and MORGAN, R. W. July 28, 1945, No. 19379. [Class 38(v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In a combined switch and plug coupling, the axis of the dolly a is disposed parallel to the tubes of the socket, and the dolly is connected by a link f to a spring-urged slide h for actuating the movable contacts k. In the form shown, the earth tube b forms the pivot of the dolly, which when moved to the " off " position, Fig. 2, causes shoulders i on the slide h to tilt contacts k about terminals o away from fixed contacts p against the action of springs m. This movement of the dolly also moves a shutter r clear of the socket tubes against the action of a spring v so that the plug (not shown) may be inserted. When the switch is " on," Fig. 5, the shutter prevents insertion of the plug. Specifications 545,639 and 596,524, [both in Group XXXVI], are referred to.
