Abstract
598,688. Tile-faced building-slabs. MALTHOUSE, E. G. Nov. 3, 1945, No. 29258. [Class 87(i)] In the manufacture of a tile-faced building-slab, the tiles 20 laid on a flat surface 21 are separated by headed wood or metal spacers 24 of various forms which remain embedded in the concrete backing 28. The pointing between the tiles may be part of the backing or may comprise a separate composition. Undercut or other keying grooves may be provided on the backs of the tiles. The edges of the slab may be grooved at 32 and provided with a rebate 31. Specifications 573,233 and 598,687 are referred to.
