[Class 20(iii)] A door or window frame is formed of metal bars whose ends are detachably connected by means each comprising a projection on one bar which engages a groove in the adjacent bar, and a screw which passes through one bar into a threaded hole in the adjacent bar. The bars may be die-cast in aluminium or light non-ferrous alloy, and as shown in Fig 4, the sill 8 and head of the outer or fixed frame have angular projections 15 which are screwed to webs forming the bases of grooves in the jambs 6. The door or movable window frames are similarly joined at the corners, and glazing bars 24, Fig. 5, may be secured thereto by screws 25, all the screws being inaccessible when the door or window is closed. At intersections of the glazing bars, horizontal bars may pass with a close push fit through holes in the vertical bars, or (according to the Provisional Specification) the vertical bars may have holes to receive studs projecting from the horizontal bars. The glass may be held in a rubber gasket 28 and the tops A, Fig. 5, of the walls of the glazing grooves may be level with the tops B, Fig. 4, of the sill head or jamb flanges to provide a similar sight line for both fixed and movable frames. The hanging style of a movable frame may be supplied already hinged to its adjacent jamb. When a fixed glazed frame is situated adjacent to a movable glazed frame, a frame member similar to the jamb 6, Fig. 4, with a glazing groove 9, may be attached to the right-hand side thereof by screws which enter a threaded sleeve disposed in the intermediate gap, Fig. 2 (not shown), the flanges interfitting by means of rebates 11. Fig. 7 shows an alternative corner joint wherein a projection 32 engages a groove 31, and a further flat projection 39 preserves an uninterrupted surface, the parts being secured by a countersunk screw 34 with a hexagonallyrecessed head.
