597,027. Automatic control of voltage. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 9, 1943, No. 14791. Convention date, Sept. 12, 1942. [Class 38 (iv)] The voltage in a circuit 8 fed from a supply 6 through a variable ratio main transformer 2 and a subsidiary series transformer 13 having its primary winding 12 variably excited by an auxiliary winding 5 of the main transformer through an induction regulator or the like 9, is stabilized by means 14, 15 for automatically adjusting the induction regulator and, preferably, also the ratio switch 7, the means 15 being actuated by a relay, contact-making voltmeter, or other voltage responsive device, under the control of a circuit 16 energized by a part of the voltage across the primary winding of the subsidiary transformer in series with the whole or part of the voltage across the auxiliary winding of the main transformer. The series connection is effected by a conductor 17 joining the two windings of the induction regulator. The ratio of the two control voltages is preferably the same as the voltage ratio of the secondary winding of transformer 13 and the output winding 4 of transformer 2.
