Abstract

588,169. Protective cut-out arrangements; induction relays. CHAMBERLAIN & HOOKHAM, Ltd.,' JAMES, S., and BRAINES, W. F. Feb. 1, 1945, No. 2604. [Class 38 (v)] The electromagnets c, d of an induction relay are energized by the secondary winding g of a transformer, the tapped primary winding h thereof being connected to one or more current transformers m in one or more phases n of a distribution system. The core k of the transformer is saturable at a predetermined value of primary current in order to obtain a time lag in the relay operation. A relay comprising a single electromagnet may be employed, Fig. 2 (not shown) which may be energized by D.C. obtained by interposing a rectifier between said electromagnet and the transformer. Alternatively an auto-transformer may be employed with tappings on one part of its winding. Specification 162,093, [Class 38 (v)], is referred to.
