Abstract
593,432. Transformer arrangements. HEAYBERD, F. C., KRIMHOLTZ, J., and HEAYBERD & CO., Ltd., F. C. Feb. 23,1945, No. 4605. [Class 38 (iv)] The current flowing and the voltage applied to an alternating current load, such as battery charging plant, electro-plating plant, motors, electrical testing apparatus, electric furnaces, stage lighting and hair waving apparatus, is controlled by a finely variable resistance 7 (Fig. 1) connected in the secondary circuit 6 of a double wound or autotransformer, the primary 3 of which is in series with the load connected at terminals 1b, 2b. " Coarse " adjustment of the load current may be provided by a tapped transformer supplying the input terminals 1a, 2a. In polyphase circuits, an equivalent number of control circuits may be ganged for simultaneous adjustment by means of a single manual control member.
