Abstract
592,608. Corsets. PRETTY & SONS (1930), Ltd., W., and NAMEGAH, W. May 23, 1945, No. 12893. [Class 141] A corset is provided with a section consisting of a facing and a lining between which there is, in the region of the waistline, an elastic controlling element which enables the garment to adjust itself to the movements of the wearer. As shown in Fig. 1, the front portion a is constructed of two side strips with inner curved edges g, h and i, j between which there is a central region consisting of a lining m and facing n, the former having an elastic insert q and the latter terminating higher up and having a cut-away portion p. The upper part of the lining m is formed with a series of longitudinal pockets s accommodating stiffening elements t, Fig. 2. The controlling member consists of a fabric-covered elastic w which is secured only at its ends and causes a ruching effect of the facing and lining when the garment is not being worn. In wear, the controlling member is tensioned across the diaphragm and the ruching effect is eliminated.
