Abstract
589,894. Roofing tiles. MAHADEVA, S. March 29, 1945, No. 8036. [Class 87 (i)] A roof consisting of longitudinal rows of alternate convex and concave tiles is composed of tapered tiles 1 of curved cross-sectional shape, the narrower end 3 being cut away at 15 to facilitate inter-fitting. Means for interlocking adjacent tiles in transverse rows consists of one or more projections 8 and complementary recesses 11 on the concave side of the longitudinal edges 4 and 5 of the tiles. The concave tiles are provided with a lip 4<1> to hook on to a batten and a T-shaped, inclined flat 5<1>, 6 to rest on its surface and enable the narrower end 3 of the tile to fit snugly inside the wider end 2 of the next concave tile. A modified form of tile, Fig. 4, is provided with an inclined flat 12<1> forming a lip 13. The convex tile has no lip or flat. In a modification, the projections and recesses are replaced by L-shaped cleats.
