Abstract
485,947. Roofing &c. tiles. LANCASTER PROCESSES, Inc. Dec. 15, 1936, No. 34451. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1935. [Class 87 (i)] A roofing or like tile or shingle comprises a tapered body of hardened plastic material provided with a series of elongated parallel air chambers of progressively decreasing crosssectional area from the thick to the thin end of the body. The chambers 24 may be arranged longitudinally, Figs. 1 and 2, or transversely, Fig. 14. A solid portion is provided at the thin end 22 of the tile and the thick end 21 may be bevelled at 29. The width of the tile may decrease from the points 23 to the thick end. The tile may be of single form, Fig. 1, or multiple form, Fig. 14, with slots 45. The tile may be made of the composition described in Specification 485,679, [Group V], and surfaced with crushed slate stuck by asphalt, a solvent and diatomaceous earth.
