588,594. Collapsable furniture. WEST, E. C. March 1, 1945, No. 5159. [Class 52 (iii)] A foldable table, stool or the like comprises a pair of legs b pivotally attached to a top piece a, a pair of V-shaped struts d pivotally attached at the free ends to the legs b and adapted to slide at the closed ends between a pair of parallel parts e<1>, e<2> constituting a guide e secured to the underside of top piece a; together with pivoted and spring loaded movable stops f to secure the assembly in the extended position such that on release of the stops the struts and legs can be folded against the underside of the top-piece a and in which each leg b is formed from a length of metal tube or rod bent to an inverted U-shape, the cross member of which is pivotally secured to the underside of the top-piece a. A fixed stop g integral with or secured in the guide e may be provided intermediate the stops f as shown.
