Stays. - Hinging devices for table &c. legs comprise a member with spaced portions cletachably connected to the top or other article, a strap pivoted between the portions, and a strut on one of the portions sliding on the strap to lock it in place. T-shaped leg straps 27, Figs. 1 and 3, extending down the legs 16<1> - - 19<1> are pivoted at 30, 31 on a rod 32 between the arms 20, 21 of U-shaped corner members 16 - - 19 bolted to the table frame. Curved struts 35, 36 pivoted on the longer arms 20 of the U-members pass through slots 37 in lateral extensions 33, 34 of the lower ends of the leg straps, the ends 38, 39 of the slot contacting with the struts as a hole 42 therein is engaged by a pin 41 on the leg strap. The strut may be freed by lateral pressure on the extension 43. The upper part of the leg strap may enter a slit in the leg. Similarly curved struts 60, Figs. 5 and 6, pivoted on the longer arm 52 or a lateral extension 62 thereof on the U-member enter slots in extensions of the leg straps 58, the struts being flexed so that the pin and slot spring into place; or a stop pin 74, Fig. 10, on the U-member so engages the strut as to cause a notch thereon to hold a pin on the leg. The leg straps 87 may be L-shaped and have a bent portion 90, Figs. 12 and 13, with a pin 91 on which is pivoted a guide 92 for the strut with a spring 95 in the leg to press a hole in the strut over the pin.
