A foldable ironing table adjustable for height has a top 10 supported by legs 12, 13 pivotally connected intermediate their ends, leg 12 being pivoted to the table top and leg 13 being provided at its upper end with a transversely extending rod 14 to which a movable release member 15 is pivoted and a fixed support member 18 with teeth 21 is fixed in a spaced apart position from the table by struts 19, 20, the member 15 being disengaged from the teeth manually by means of a handle 25 but re-engaging under gravity when released.
