Abstract

584,240. Printing-machines. WESTON, H. Dec. 22, 1944, No. 25704. [Class 100 (ii)] Offset planographic rotary or flatbed machines are fitted with heating apparatus for heating and drying the blanket or printing- plate or both in order to do away with bad impressions due to accumulation of water on the blanket. As shown the blanket cylinder 4 of a rotary machine is heated. by a stationary heater 7 fitted with an infra-red heater, gas or electric heater, with hot water, or a blower for hot air. A heater may be housed in the plate or blanket cylinder, and may be controlled by a thermostat.
