Abstract

727,058. Drying paper webs. WHITTAKER, W. C. Aug. 17, 1953 [July 21, 1952], No. 18309/52. Class 96. A hood 11 over a drying-cylinder 10, e.g. an M.G. cylinder, of a paper-making machine, encloses a supply duct 27 with nozzles 31 directing hot air on to the paper, moisture-laden air outlets being provided at spaced positions through the duct 27. Baffles 26 direct exhaust air against the duct 27 to reheat it and avoid water condensation. The air is supplied at 23, 25, and led off at 24, 22. The hood may be hinged at 16, clamped at 19, and may be raised by hooks 21 &c.
