Abstract

1,226,418. Drying apparatus. BELOIT CORP. 16 July, 1968 [11 March, 1968], No. 33870/68. Heading F4G. In the drying of a fibrous web, e.g. moist or coated paper, the web as it is passed over a rotating heated drying drum, is on the outside of a porous felt which is in direct contact with the drum. In the apparatus shown, web w is on the outside of felt 15 as it is passed around drums 12 and is held in contact with drums 11 by felt 15, the drums 12 being at a higher temperature than the drums 11. Hood 21 impinges heated air on to the web. In another embodiment a coated web may be predried by an infrared heater.
