Abstract

Leather for sealing rings, e.g. on rotary shafts, is impregnated with colloidal graphite and a synthetic resin, e.g. a castor oil-modified alkyd resin as described in Specification 580,120, a vinyl resin, polymerized chloroprene, or a copolymer of styrene and butadiene. The resin may be dissolved in a solvent, e.g. ethyl acetate, benzene, xylol or acetone, in which the colloidal graphite is dispersed.
