Abstract
An adhesive composition, particularly for uniting fabric or paper to a non-porous surface for giving a bond resistant to oil and solvents, consists of vulcanized latex, casein or other proteid and fish or other glue or gelatine. The vulcanized latex may be prepared as described in Specification 405,296 with a casein-formaldehyde condensation product preferably using trisodium phosphate in place of triethanolamine to obtain alkalinity, mixed with a stabilizer, sulphur, zinc oxide, casein solution, and sodium diethyl dithiocarbamate. The casein may be dissolved in water containing borax and phenol. Specification 575,767 also is referred to.
