574,857. Cutting vegetables. ABBEY, A. (Oertli Akt.-Ges., T.) May 5, 1944, No. 8572. [Class 5 (i)] [Also in Groups II and VI] A device for producing homogeneous mixtures of solid or of solid and liquid foodstuffs comprises a container through the bottom of which projects a shaft, carrying a propellor 4, Fig. 2, and driven at 6,000 to 15,000 r.p.m. by an electric motor. The propellor 4 forces the materials down to the blades of a cutter 3 mounted on the shaft just above the base of the container. The inner surface of the container is provided with ribs to facilitate the mixing. The apparatus may be used for producing a fine suspension of cucumbers, onions, and spice plants in mayonnaise, or a fine suspension of apples, carrots or spinach in a liquid such as milk.
