Abstract
838,542. Viscosimeters. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 14, 1957, No. 1306/57. Class 106 (2). A viscosimeter comprises a constant-speed power-driven stirrer consisting of a disc 2 mounted on a shaft, the disc having cut into it a number of holes designed to improve the mixing powers of the stirrer, a container 3 in which the stirrer can be rotated, means of firmly attaching the container 3 to a table 4 rotatable coaxially with the stirrer and a torsion device (not shown) to restrain the rotation of the table 4. The motor is either air-driven or electrical and the stirrer can be lowered into the container 3 by a lever 8a. A torsion spring restrains rotation of the table 4 to which the container 3 is held by magnets, and a scale 7 indicates the torque set up and hence the viscosity of the liquid in the container.
