Abstract
573,465. Liquid-fuel burners. SOC. GENERALE DE CHARBONNAGES ET DE COMBUSTIBLES LIQUIDES. April 21, 1941, No. 5120. Convention date, Aug. 24, 1939. [Class 75 (i)] A burner for mazout or similar fuels comprises a body 1 having steam or air and fuel passages 19, 21 and fitted with an outer tube 2, an inner tube 5 adjustable by a hand wheel 10 to regulate the annular steam or air discharge orifice formed between a conical member 6 on the tube 5 and a nozzle 3 on the tube 2, and a central rod 11 adjustable in a socket 9 carried by the tubes to regulate the fuel discharge orifice between a member 12 on the rod 11 and the member 6, the fuel and steam or air being discharged in almost parallel divergent streams. The threads 14, 3 between the rod 11 and socket 9 and the tube 5 and body 1 respectively are of opposite hand so that on preventing rotation of the rod 11 by means of a key 15 engaging a slot 16 in the body 1 rotation of the hand wheel 10 will regulate the steam and fuel passages simultaneously. The fuel passes from the passage 21 to the tube 5 through a chamber in the body 1 containing an apertured sleeve 23. The body 1 is clamped to a frame 42 formed with steam and fuel passages 36, 40 by a stirrup 43 pivoted at 44 to the frame and carrying a screw 45 operated by a handle 48 to engage a threaded hole 49 in the frame.
