Abstract
573,066. Printing-machines. STEVENS, A. H. (Miller Printing Machinery Co.) Oct. 26, 1943, No. 17629. [Class 100 (ii)] In a reciprocating bed printing machine, means are provided for maintaining the ink supply to the outer forme-inking roller 21 notwithstanding changes in size of this roller due to wear &c. and without moving the roller further from the impression roller 12. In one form, Fig. 1, the ink is supplied to the roller 21 by a roller 30 contacting a roller 29 engaging the ink drum 17. The roller 30 is carried by an arm 32 adjustably clamped about a pivot 33 by a bolt 34 passing through a slot 35 in the arm. Upon reduction in size of the roller 21, the roller 30 is adjusted into contact with the roller 21 and the roller 29 is moved about the drum 17 into contact with the roller 30. In a further form, Fig. 4, the ink is applied to the roller 21 directly from the drum 17, which, with the fountain and intermediate transfer and distributing rollers, is carried by a frame 42 pivoted about a, shaft 43 and adjustable by a bolt 46 passing through a slot 45 in the frame.
