[Class 100 (ii)] A r o t a r y printing- machine is fitted with a reversible printing or numbering unit 2, which can be set as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 to print on the same side of a web or sheet as a printing-unit 3 and a numbering-unit 4, or as shown in full lines to print a perfected impression by an arrangement in which no turning-bars are used to deflect the web between impressions. The impression cylinder 8 and printing-cylinder 7, Fig. 3, of the-unit 2 are mounted in a frame 6 pivoted about horizontal trunnions 9 arranged in the machine frame 5 with its axis on the paper line 12 of the machine. The unit 2 is driven by a gear wheel 14 which engages a gear 15 on the cylinder 7 when the unit is arranged to print the lower side of the web, and engages a gear 16-when the unit is reversed to print the upper side. The wheel 14 can bemoved axially out of contact with either gear when the frame 6 is being rotated.to reverse the unit. The frame can be rotated by hand'or by worm gearing operated by a hand-wheel and the frame is held in adjusted position by a pin engaging registering holes in the frames 5, 6. The printing-cylinder 7 can be replaced by a cylinder fitted with a numbering box, or with several boxes.
