572,630. Motor controllers. SOC. ANON. VITOS. Feb. 22, 1940, No. 3380. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1939. [Class 38 (iii)] A regulating resistance particularly for small electric motors for sewing machines consists of a resistance element mounted on an insulator 12 and provided with tappings connected to spring blades 4 on the ends of which contact pieces 6 are mounted. Each contact piece comprises a button and pin the buttons being uppermost in all but the top one. When, as by foot operation the transverse arm 9 depresses the blades the first movement brings the top blade into contact with the second blade thereby completing the motor circuit and subsequent movement causes the blades mutually to actuate one another until the whole resistance is cut out. The blades may be replaced by pivoted arms controlled by springs and may be of insulating material.
