Abstract

330,355. English Electric Co., Ltd., and Bertles, E. J. April 18, 1929. Controllers with rotating arms.-A movable contact B of an electric motor controller is pivoted on a movable arm by a pin D which is held in a notch N by a spring F which exerts pressure between the contacts. In a 3-phase motor starter the contacts B are mounted on a spider E and engage series of fixed contacts A, A1, A2, the arcs of which are preferably centred at H, HI, H2 respectively, so that the pressure of the spring increases towards the " full on " position. To break contact the rocker arm C engages a stud G, the arm having a sloping face J so as to extend the spring while moving to the " off position." For engaging a single fixed contact a, Fig.2, a compression spring f is used, and the contact b is retained on the arm e by a pin k.
