Abstract
404,837. Armature control of D.C. motors; maintaining defined speeds. Convention date, April 9, 1932. [Class 38 (iii).] The speed of a motor a driving, for example, a sewing machine is determined by the setting of a contact e co-operating with a contact c operated by a centrifugal device d driven by the motor, the contacts c, e, being effective to control a resistance b in series with the motor. A lever n operated by foot, knee, or hand first closes contacts h, g, to complete the motor circuit and then moves the contact e to adjust the setting of the centrifugal device. When the lever n returns to its " off " position a mechanical brake q is applied.
