572,023. Liquid - pressure engines. HYDRAUTOMAT (1931), Ltd., and SMILLIE, G. Jan. 20, 1944, No. 1113. [Class 69 (ii)) [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] In a pump comprising a number of mechanically connected diaphragms a<1>, a<2>, a<3>, one or more of which are subjected to liquid or gas pressure alternately on opposite sides and one or both sides of one or more pump fluid,-the supply of motive fluid is distributed to the diaphragms by a main valve k controlled by a pilot valve d' actuated by the diaphragms. As shown, the main valve has a small end k<1>, subjected constantly to supply pressure, and a large end k<2>, connected alternately to pressure and exhaust by parts m<1>, m<2> in the pilot valve. The main valve thus is moved in one direction by supply pressure and in the other direction by the difference of pressure on its ends; and connects engine supply conduits h, i alternately to pressure and exhaust ports f, g.
