559,373. Dies for cutting-out presses. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., (United Shoe Machinery Corporation.). Aug. 12, 1942, No. 11265. [Class 31 (i)] Cutting-cut dies for cutting shoe upper vamps of the type described in Specifications 465,107, 530,569 and 544,656 in which a double edged knife 12 is bent around and secured to a shaped core 10 are constructed, to reinforce the blade against deformation in directions parallel to the face of the core, with short slits 18 in the blade formed at intervals all along its length and midway of its width, the metal on each side of the slits being bent inwardly to form flanges 20 which overlap opposite sides of the core and abut tightly against these sides. Spot welds 14 between the slits 18 secure the blade position.
