Abstract
606,984. Cutting-out presses. BJORNSTAD, T. Jan. 22, 1946, No. 2151. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1943. [Class 31(i)] A die for cutting-out shapes of cardboard, rubber, leather, &c. is formed of a sharpened edge of thin steel ribbon which after being bent to shape is reinforced by thin metal ribbons fastened to the die by welding or the like and placed on edge. In Fig. 2, the die 1 is reinforced by a steel ribbon member 6 to which is connected an inner die member 2 of inverted C-form, the cutting edge of which is in the same plane as that of the die 1. In Fig. 4, dies 9, 10, 11 for cutting circular discs are surrounded by a metal band 12 welded to the three dies, which may also be provided with reinforcing ribbons 13 which may be provided with cross-shaped cutting edges in the centre of each circle.
