Abstract

555,536. Alloys. HIRSCH, S. April 25, 1942, No. 5556. [Class 82 (i)] A bearing metal alloy consists of lead with 12-.14 per cent. of antimony, 6.5-7 per cent. of tin, 1.5-2.2. per cent. of cadmium, 0.8-1.3 per cent. of copper, 0.8-1.2 per cent. of nickel, and 0.35-0.4 per cent. of arsenic. The alloy may be made by adding a melt of the higher melting point metals to a melt of the lower melting point metals; part of the antimony may be included in each of the melts, and the cadmium may be introduced after the two melts of the other constituents have been mixed. According to the Provisional Specification, the ranges of antimony, tin and arsenic are somewhat wider.
