Abstract
553,059. Tentering and drying fabrics. WHITELEY & SONS, Ltd., W., and CHARLESWORTH, H. Sept. 1, 1941, No. 11118. [Class 34 (i)] In an apparatus for tentering fabrics which are carried through a series of superposed compartments b<1> - - b<6> while held extended laterally between chains and in which the compartments are heated by steam pipes g and air is drawn by a fan i through one compartment and passed upwardly into the next compartment, an auxiliary heater K is disposed between each pair of compartments so that the temperature of the air, drawn from a lower compartment, is raised before the air passes into the next higher compartment. The output of the heaters may be adjustable. As shown the auxiliary heater k is disposed on the delivery side of each fan i in a casing a<1> outside the main casing a of the apparatus.
